Allyship in Action Workshop

A lot of people want to ally but aren't sure of what that means.

You see how transgender and other LGBTQ+ people are being attacked legislatively, culturally, and even physically. 

You see it and it breaks your heart and you don’t know what to do. 

This session, run by Laura G. Gentner, M.S.Ed., is about what you can do right now, doing things that have impact and giving you strategies to continue to learn what to do next. This session is about what to do now and how to know what to do next.

What can you expect from Allyship in Action?

Learn about the realities for LGBTQ+ folx, especially trans folx in the cultural climate right now. 

Learn how to ask marginalized communities what they would like us to do on their behalf and with them in solidarity. 

Practice some allyship in community together. We will actually do some allyship actions during this session while supporting one another and navigating our barriers to action.

Laura Gentner Hutchinson (she/they) is an LGBTQ+ allyship educator, consultant, and public speaker from Dayton, Ohio. Laura's passion is empowering individuals to take action toward a world marked by radical inclusion. She has two degrees from the University of Dayton, including a Masters of Science in Education, where they also spent 5 years establishing UD's first LGBTQ+ student services program. Laura's award-winning research on what LGBTQ+ students actually want and expect in allies led to her mission to make "ally" a verb -- literally.
